Add/update Reference

Have a question about Bullhorn's HTTP based APIs? You've found the right place.

API Update [posted on December 13, 2012]:

This version of the Bullhorn APIs should no longer be used.

All new work should be done using Bullhorn's REST or Web Services APIs. For more information please visit: http://developer.bullhorn.com/documentation

Bullhorn REST API provides a simpler and faster way for developers to build applications that interact with the Bullhorn platform and is used by Bullhorn Inc. to develop features of the Bullhorn ATS/CRM application.

Of the BullhornSTAFFING HTTP API interfaces listed below, our analysis shows that the following are most commonly used by developers:

Resume Parsing API
Published Job Data (XML)
The interface to these will continue to work as is because Bullhorn will replace the back end to use REST API. The URLs for these 2 specific APIs may change in the 2nd half of 2013; developers may require to update their applications to use the new URLs.

Add/update Reference

Post by KTierney » Mon Jul 06, 2009 2:16 pm

When receiving References from the form filled in on the website (add/update API), they are coming into Bullhorn with the correct information. The information appears and all the correct fields from field mappings show up on the reference within Bullhorn except for the questions that were added on from Tools> Reference Questions. These do not appear on any forms when trying to edit those coming from the website through the API.

Example is Candidate userID 6106 Gauthami Gopalan (PLid 2851). The references appear and you are able to edit, but none of the 7 reference questions show at the bottom beyond Date Checked. If you were to just add a reference, those questions appear. They also appear on all references not created through API.

Is there something that can be done?

Hello KTierney,

I was able to get the questions to be posted to that user with the following xml:

Code: Select all

<root>
    <userReference>
        <USERID_INT>61067</USERID_INT>
        <QUESTIONS>
            <QUESTION>
                <USERREFERENCEQUESTIONID_INT>3</USERREFERENCEQUESTIONID_INT>
                <USERREFERENCEANSWERID_INT>0</USERREFERENCEANSWERID_INT>
                <REFERENCEANSWERTEXT_STRING>Good at what he does</REFERENCEANSWERTEXT_STRING>
            </QUESTION>
            <QUESTION>
                <USERREFERENCEQUESTIONID_INT>2</USERREFERENCEQUESTIONID_INT>
                <USERREFERENCEANSWERID_INT>0</USERREFERENCEANSWERID_INT>
                <REFERENCEANSWERTEXT_STRING>Follows Directions</REFERENCEANSWERTEXT_STRING>
            </QUESTION>
        </QUESTIONS>
    </userReference>
</root>

The main item was the user id was missing a digit.

Please let me know if it does not work. I would be glad to look over any code you have on this issue.

J.P.
