Unknown host error

Whenever I try to access the authorization code, I go to the following link with my client ID:

https://auth.bullhornstaffing.com/oauth ... _type=code

I enter my username and password, and have even accepted the Ts&cs. When I am redirected however, the code is not in the URL. Instead, I get this:

[redirect_url]/?error=server_error&error_description=java.net.UnknownHostException%3A+sl19redis.vip.bos.bullhorn.com

Is there anyway to get around this?

Hi,

Please use https://auth9.bullhornstaffing.com/oauth ... client_id=[client_id]&response_type=code

This should work for you.

Hi Guys,

We are experiencing similar issue.

Preconditions:
User is logged in into Bullhorn system (https://www.bullhornstaffing.com/)

After:
When trying to get auth_code using https://auth.bullhornstaffing.com/oauth the Unknown host error is received.
When using https://auth9.bullhornstaffing.com/oauth as suggested the auth_code was successfully received.

Access_token/refresh_token pair was also received without any problem

But when trying to login to the Rest API (https://rest.bullhornstaffing.com/rest- ... ={xxxxxxxx})
the error is received saying invalid access token...

What are we doing wrong because we are following the procedures described here http://developer.bullhorn.com/articles/getting_started ?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi egorgan,

You don't need to be logged into Bullhorn to run through the oAuth steps in a browser window. I tested these steps on my end and wasn't seeing the unknown host exception, but in any case, if all you are trying to accomplish is the oAuth, I would do so in a fresh window.

In our case most of the time users will be logged in into Bullhorn system when accessing our application.
Our application is using REST API in background.

So the application has to go through the OAuth steps like obtaining code/oauth access and refresh tokens/bullhorn session in order to get access to the REST and start working it right ?!
if yes then there is an issue. Please see my previous comment and comments posted before as well.

In case users access our application anonymously the application or the REST API will force them to log in.

Am i missing something ?

Hi egorgan,

The oAuth steps can just be done manually in a browser. Once you've generated an auth code for a given set of API user and REST credentials, you obtain the access/refresh token.

From that point, you can use the access and refresh tokens programmatically to ensure that your app can connect and make API calls to/from Bullhorn when accessed.

You shouldn't have to complete the entire oAuth process for each time a user access your app.
