Fetching childTaskOwners causes "Read timed out" on some...

Post by StanAngeloff » Tue Feb 25, 2014 10:52 am

We have created a Task entity subscription which informed us of a new task being created on Bullhorn. When attempting to fetch the task, however, the childTaskOwners field is causing the server to throw "Read timed out":

Code: Select all

➜ curl -i -X GET 'https://rest5.bullhornstaffing.com/rest-services/jjyvd/entity/Task/346846?fields=childTaskOwners%5B2%5D%28id%29&BhRestToken=xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx'
HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
Date: Thu, 20 Feb 2014 16:09:21 GMT
Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *
Access-Control-Allow-Methods: GET, POST, PUT, DELETE, OPTIONS
Access-Control-Max-Age: 86400
Access-Control-Allow-Headers: Content-Type, X-Requested-With
Content-Type: application/json;charset=UTF-8
Via: 1.1 default
Connection: close
Transfer-Encoding: chunked

{
  "rootCause" : {
    "errorMessage" : "Read timed out"
  },
  "mostSpecificCause" : {
    "errorMessage" : "Read timed out"
  },
  "errorMessage" : "Could not access HTTP invoker remote service at [http://sl15dataservices.vip.bos.bullhorn.com/data-services-2.5/sr/DataService]; nested exception is java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out"
}
If we change the URL to fields=*, we get a 200 OK, however the "childTaskOwners" property in the JSON is not correct:

Code: Select all

[..] "childTaskOwners" : {
      "total" : 1,
      "data" : [ ]
    }, [..]
We should get a total of one item in data, but it is empty.

We are unsure how the parent/child task objects got created. We were alerted to their existence by a subscription.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Stan,

I have tested your requests and there is nothing wrong with the REST GET statements you are making. After investigation it looks like the logic we use to pull the ID has an issue which is causing it to timeout.

I have escalated this to our Engineers and will update this post when a solution is provided and this no longer will hinder you. In the meantime if this is a very important field to pull back I would recomend looking up the child task ID using the ChildTasks field and find the owner field from there.

Kind regards,

Hi Stan,

This issue should now be resolved and no longer occur.
