Return more fields with fast find?

Postby mfowler » Fri Jun 02, 2017 7:39 am

I would like to use fast find to search for candidate
- I like that it handles email, and first or last name search quite easily out of the box

however, is there a way I can make it return more than just the label for the results?

For the candidates it returns, I also need their email address, and ideally also the company they currently work at.

Is the only way to do this, to do fast find and then to look each candidate up individually with their own request to get their other fields?

Or alternatively, does someone have an example query written for the Search/Candidate endpoint which would easily search by First Name and Last Name in an intelligent way?

Thanks for any help.

Hi mfowler,

I recommend using search and query in general over fast find because of how flexible you can build up the search.

For example you could do:
/search/Candidate?query=email:"email@email.com"&fields=(your choice)
/search/Candidate?query=firstName:"Steve"&fields=*

Even if it is a single record with that email address you can still pull back as many fields as you wish in return.
There are more restrictions you can add as well but those are basic examples.

Here's where our repository of our entities and fields is:

Please let me know if you're having any trouble.

Kind regards,
Colin

Thanks for this Colin.

Could you please provide an example of valid get /query with a WHERE clause

-- I'm currently trying to use this with Corporate user and having trouble getting it to work.

the URL I am using is:
https://rest33.bullhornstaffing.com/res ... %22test%22

(of course with RESTTOKEN substituted for my actual token)

I am attempting, for the sake of testing, to query all CorporateUser where username=test

but with the above URL I get the error message:
u'Where clause \\'test\\' at position 11 is not a valid field name.'

Thanks for any help.

The issue was that I was surrounding the value test in double quotes ", when it needed to be surrounded with single quotes '
