Save UserTemplate data

Post by aperlstein » Fri Aug 26, 2011 5:55 pm

I see that the web services 2.0 release allows us to get template data, but I see nothing about saving template data. Is that part of this release? If not, when is that expected?

Thanks,
ari

Ari,

Currently this data is considered read_only from a webservices API perspective.

Has this been changed or is it still considered read_only?

Matt,

This data is considered read only and will most likely continue to be so for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the quick reply Andrew. I am in the process of upgrading a site using the Legacy API to the SOAP API, they are updating Candidates and their user template data via the following call:

http://www.bullhornstaffing.com/Bullhor ... PITest.cfm

Using the below sample XML:

<root>
<BHCandidate>
<USERID>12345</USERID>
<lastName>Barry</lastName>
<firstName>Matt</firstName>
<userTemplate_955_1>Portsmouth, NH</userTemplate_955_1>
</BHCandidate>
</root>

Is there any way using either the SOAP APIs or the REST API to achieve the same functionality, specifically for the user template data? I'd prefer not to use the Legacy API since it will be shut down at the end of the year.

Hi Matt,

There isn't a way to do this in the SOAP or REST APIs for legacy templates.

You can only insert or update data in SOAP or REST to the standard templates: CandidateEducation, CandidateWorkHistory, CandidateReference

Hi, I got an email from Matt Fischer in August stating that all CRUD operations on templates is now possible via the SOAP APIs. How can this be done?

Yes, in versions 2.0 and 2.5, there is a UserTemplate entity.

You can find information about this entity in the SOAP documentation. Here is the direct page for this entity: http://developer.bullhorn.com/doc/versi ... mplate.htm

This link seems to point to information about how to modify the template itself as opposed to adding new Instances of template data or changing existing instances.

I see how you can retrieve template data, but I don't understand how you can write actual template data. Do you have a SOAP example?

Ari,

I apologize, as there has been some misunderstanding around what you were trying to do.

The UserTemplates and UserTemplateAttribute (fields) are fully read write entities using SOAP 2.0 and above.

The data for these templates, that is linked to user records (job and company templates as well) is read_only and accessible via the getUserTemplateData method.

I need this capability also. Is it still unavailable via the SOAP API? Are there plans to add that capability?

I am updating our site to integrate with Bullhorn via the SOAP API instead of the Legacy API since the Legacy API is being deprecated. Can I no longer store (write) user data in our custom user template fields?

Template add/edit will be available for some time into the deprecation period in order to not lose functionality. Messaging will be forthcoming with details to those clients affected.
