Is there still a plan to deprecate the 'fields=*' syntax on Search and Query endpoints?

According to the documentation, and posts from moderators in this forum in the past, there are plans to eventually deprecate and block 'fields=*' syntax from all endpoints besides 'meta'. Hey Laura,

So if I just limit the amount of records I return per call to 10 , and make more calls, i should get all records? Aka, im only losing records because im trying to fetch more than 10 records per call, and after 10, they stop returning for that session/call?
